Happy New Year and new ToS in effect
Posted: 2/1/2010. By: Floris

Welcome back everybody! We had a great 2009 building a chat network, and that's with your help. In 2010 we have even more plans to optimize your experience. Happy and Healthy 2010 to everybody.

From this blog post on our updated Terms of Services policies are in effect. We had minor changes, so nothing to worry about. Clarification regarding your privacy has been appended. And the policy regarding virtual hosts has been updated.

Basically if you come to the network to chat, and stay within the policies/rules of the network your privacy is very much so protected. We still auto +x upon connect to mask your host for 25 to 100% and you can still request a virtual host (and change it). What has not changed, but made more apparent is that if you come to the chat network to be an abusive user, or even try to break the law. That you should be aware breaking the ToS is considered mutual. A web site owner who's services you're abusing. Or third parties who help us fight the abuse might request the IP and we might disclose it. We might publicly set the g-line / k-line ban on the host, disclosing your IP.

And regarding the virtual host (vhost) you can no longer request one on a daily basis, but you can still change it on a monthly basis (accidental typing errors exempted). While this sounds more strict, we will slightly enforce it, giving users leeway. We have this in place for the top 3% users who constantly decide to change.

We have these changes made to make it a more friendly experience for those who join our network for fun times and want a good chat experience. This smooths it out a bit. While these policies were already here since the start of the network, they are now made more apparent.
