It is now possible to request a channel log bot. The bot is called "log" and can be put in your channel by Brian or Floris. It will idle in the room and record the public chatter.
If you want to have the log bot in your channel please contact Floris or Brian on IRC in #help or #chat on irc.vbirc.com
q) What is logged?
a) The public joins / parts / kicks / bans / and public chatter in the room are logged.
q) Where can I find these logs?
a) All the logs are publicly available on http://logs.vbirc.com/
q) Can I get private logs?
a) Yes, please let me know you wish this and we can add a private login/pass to protect your log directory.
q) Is it logged automatically, like, .. is my channel being logged right now?
a) No, certainly not. Everybody IN the channel can log the channel, but we do not log the channels on our network.
q) How do I get the bot to log my channel?
a) You go on irc.vbirc.com in #chat and query me (Floris) or Brian. ( /msg Floris Hi there, I want to 'log' bot in my #room please).
This is a service that has been requested for a while, and we are finally able to offer unlimited storage and an archive of channel chat logs for everybody - totally free!
Important notice: We are not responsible for back ups or archives. We can provide you what we have on our server. We are currently unable to provide back ups of any log files. This means you are responsible to download a copy if you wish to archive it. Upon data loss we will most likely be unable to restore our archive.
